What’s Loopin’ 7/13 πŸŒ€

At the end of the last blog post I mentioned being stoked on Shin Sanbongi‘s skating, which led to “Shin Week” on our Instagram. His flowy style, simple yet unique trick selection, and impeccable back noseblunts make Shin one of my favorites to watch.

Shin surfs himself, and grew up in a town where surfing is very popular in Japan, and you can see that influence in his skating. I feel like his skating can be appreciated by anyone, just simply because he looks so smooth on his board, like he’s meant to skate.

With that being said, here’s a few of my favorites from “Shin Week”

Speaking of the surf influence, you can see it right here. Look at his knees! If you want to learn how to alley-oop wallride, just study this one for a while…

I love doing wallies, wallrides, and slappys, simply because they are fun, and because I love to do them, I love to watch them be done. The way Shin wallies into this back smith is amazing, I love how quickly and easily he gets in, and that he has the power to push the back smith through chunky concrete. A smith grind usually isn’t one to work out very well through concrete chunks. It also stands out to me how light he was on his front foot, you can tell as he rolls away, when he needs to adjust it. His back foot powered through the back smith and his front foot was just chillin, pointed down, all sick looking.

A curb cut tre flip, simple, but tasteful. Shin doesn’t flip his board a ton, but he definitely has a proper looking tre flip. This one in particular came around to his feet perfectly, and set him up for the rest of that line. There’s something about watching someone skate a curb cut that makes me want to get up, skate down the street, and just have fun.

The loops above came from Shin’s Adidas part, and Quartersnacks’ “Surf Goat Remix“, which are both great watches.

That’s it for “Shin Week”, hopefully you enjoyed the loops, stay posted on our Instagram for more coming everyday. πŸŒ€
