It’s been about a month since the last time I poured out my thoughts on here, and today I had the urge to do it again, so here we go…
The past couple weeks have been full of great video releases, and with the fourth quarter just around the corner, I don’t see that slowing down anytime soon.
Louie Lopez is in full effect right now. Just about 6 weeks after the release of his “Honor Roll” part for Spitfire, he’s back again. “Louie, Again & Again” dropped last Thursday on the FA YouTube, as well as on Instagram. A full part being posted to Instagram right away might be a debatable topic, but personally, I think it’s great, at least in this case. I’m huge on watching video parts on a computer or TV when possible. But, for the sake of convenience, I think it’s cool to upload a full part straight to the Gram.
Louie is hands down one of the most gifted skateboarders, and one that it feels lie everyone enjoys to watch. He has this magic in him that gives off a vibe of him just cruising around, yet he’s doing amazing tricks, at spots that rarely look easy to skate. This manny was an obvious choice for a loop, he couldn’t have done it any better.
Bobby de Keyzer instantly became one of my favorite skaters when I first watched “DEFUNKT” back in 2014. Since then, Bobby has continued to impress with every part he’s released. His mix of manuals, ledge tricks, and incredibly fast flick is always a treat. Bobby collaborated with Ben Chadourne for his most recent part, and it gave me that feeling that his parts always give me. It instantly brings me this high because of how incredible the footage is, and then I slowly get jealous that I’ll never know what it feels like to have that control, but it’s a good kind of jealousy. Ben did an amazing job with this one, the edit seemed to have a feeling to it, and that last section on the manny pad was something special…
Vincent Milou can do it all, and has the most fun doing it. This is made clear in his new “XXX” part, through the amazing skating, and clips like that waterslide roll in at 0:58. It’s been clear for years that Vincent is gnarly, which I love, but I also love his ability to skate unique spots, and constantly stay creative with it. This Back 180 Fakie 5-0 blows my mind the more that I watch it.
Over the past few weeks, I’ve consistently turned to Max Geronzi footage to get my hyped to skate. Most specifically, footage of him on his 80’s shape. Max is someone who appears to be able to do anything he wants to on his board, and it’s so sick that he chooses to do it on this 80’s shape. Shaped boards are something that have grown on me over the past few years; it just adds some extra excitement, whether you’re skating one, or watching someone skate one. With Max’s constant clips on IG, it was an easy task to toss a mix together of him, and it just made sense to give it a fun vibe with the song. Below are a few loops of clips used in the mix – that Fakie Tre (slide 2) is a thing of beauty. It’s incredible what he can do with no nose and a square tail.
