Behind The Loops is our newest series, the idea is simple; give filmers some shine by having them choose some clips they have filmed, loop those clips, and have them share a backstory from these sessions.

To launch this series we collaborated with Tyler Bamdas, who we became familiar with from his incredible video “Variety Vol. 2“, which we have mentioned before, as well as made loops from. Thankfully, Tyler was down to be the test run of “Behind The Loops”, and just as we expected, he came through with amazing clips, and intriguing stories for each and every one.

Without further adieu, here’s Tyler’s picks!

1. Josh Douglas

“We were trying to get a clip on this kinked rail at the same school but ended up cruising around and seeing what the school had to offer. We stumbled across this spot and ended up filming a line there first. It was just something unique and pretty different compared to your average stair set. He did a front 180 down switch 180 off to start and just went from there. I think he mentioned kickflip at first and then quickly switched up to 360 flip. Dodging the pole is crazy because where you land on the block is super narrow. Also how his arms were extending when he popped was crazy to watch. Every try it seemed like he was going to smack the fuck out the pole. After an hour or so it went down and couldn’t have been more perfect. All the boys were there for that one also which made it rad.”

2. Alec Spinosi

“This one is special to me because it was right down the street from where Alec and I were living at the time in Huntington Beach. I passed by the rail pretty frequently but had never seen someone skate it. We never had even gotten out of the car to look at it before I don’t think. But yeah, we just decided to go there one day and see what was up. When you’re running up to it, there’s a crazy corner piece of concrete that sticks out of the building. You kind of have to dodge it when popping so its a mind fuck for sure. Front Lip was called out pretty fast and he just started hopping on them. Probably took him 10-15 minutes to do. Waiting for cars at that spot is the only thing that was holding us up I think. What’s funny is he did it again after he already did it for the camera. Happened to grab a phone angle of the second one he did also haha.”

3. Christian Dufrene

“This was one of the first tricks Christian and I filmed for his part in “Vol. 2.”We had been at the rail I believe a couple days before and he mentioned he wanted to try to front krook it. We made the plan shortly after to link up there one morning and handle it. Christian drove solo down from Hollywood that day to meet with me and my friend Luke. Grinds we’re going down almost immediately from what I remember. I’d say after about 15 minutes of going at it, he slammed all gnarly and ripped his hand open on that parking lot ground. He was gushing but after 2 minutes or so he got fired back up to keep going. Wasn’t long before that perfect one came and he rolled away into the beach. Making the plan to go film a trick and having it go down is such a rad feeling, especially after a good drive and slam.”

4. Adrian Sisk

“Originally this day, Adrian and I had plans for a double set that he came across a few weeks prior. That one didn’t end up working out because of a crazy homeowner, so we got back in the van and were aimlessly driving around LA. I think some of the dudes wanted to skate this thing and there was a coffee spot across the street. No doubt that’s where we were headed haha. I saw Adrian doing these at cherry for months, so I guess that this spot seemed like it was going to work in his favor. Wasn’t long before most of the guys were kickin across the street muchin’ out and watching Adrian get to it. I’d say he rolled away fairly quick minus the slight interruptions of having to wait for people walking or cruising by on bikes. I remember when he rolled away all the dudes were hollering from across the street. There was also this babe on the sidewalk that was blessed by Adrians flatground 360 flip after rolling away haha!”
